Mtaa Jobs ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal information when you use our website and services at https://mtaajobs.co.ke. By using Mtaa Jobs, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
We collect the following categories of information when you use Mtaa Jobs:
- Account Information: Full name, email address, phone number, password (stored as an encrypted hash — we never store plain-text passwords), county, subcounty, and ward when you register.
- Profile Information: Skills, job categories, work description, and availability for job seekers; company name, description, and requirements for job givers.
- Job Postings: Job titles, required skills, location details, and contact information submitted when posting a job.
- Messages: Content of messages exchanged between users through our platform's messaging system.
- Tool-Generated Data: CVs, invoices, gig agreements, savings entries, and done-list items created using our free tools, stored against your account if you are logged in.

- Ratings & Reviews: Ratings and written reviews submitted about other users after a job is completed.

Your information is used to:
- Create and manage your Mtaa Jobs account and authenticate your identity.

- Facilitate connections, messaging, and job matching between seekers and givers.
- Send email notifications about job interest, new matching jobs and platform updates.
- Store and display CVs, invoices, agreements, and other documents created with our free tools.
- Process and display ratings and reviews.
- Send marketing emails to subscribed users about new features, tools, and relevant updates (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve platform performance and user experience.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, spam, or abuse.
- Comply with applicable Kenyan laws and regulations including the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- With other users — by your choice: If you enable "make my phone number public", it will be visible on your profile and job listings to other users. You control this setting in your dashboard.
- Between seekers and givers: When a seeker expresses interest in a job, limited profile information (name, skills, location, message) is shared with the relevant giver and vice versa.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party services — including Truehost (hosting), Google (analytics and ads), and email delivery providers — who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations.
- Google AdSense: Our site serves ads through Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-2724200479249929). Google may use cookies to serve interest-based ads. See Section 13 for details.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by Kenyan law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Mtaa Jobs or its users.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with appropriate notice.
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, you have the following rights:
- Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data via your dashboard or by contacting us.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data. You can delete your account directly from your dashboard.
- Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: Object to processing of your data for marketing purposes by unsubscribing from our emails.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on your consent (e.g. marketing emails), you may withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email we send.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- Password hashing: All passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes. We cannot retrieve your plain-text password.
- HTTPS encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via SSL/TLS.
- CSRF protection: Forms on our site use CSRF tokens to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
- Access controls: Only authorised personnel have access to our database and hosting environment.
- Secure hosting: Our servers are hosted on Truehost Kenya with firewalls and regular security updates.
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, job listings, messages, and tool data are permanently deleted.
- Guest invoices: Invoices generated without a logged-in account are stored temporarily for verification purposes and may be deleted after 90 days.
- Email logs: Marketing email send logs are retained for up to 12 months for compliance and analysis.
- Usage/analytics data: Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify individuals.
- Legal obligations: Some data may be retained longer if required by Kenyan law or for legitimate legal purposes.
We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:
- Session cookies: Used to keep you logged in as you navigate the site. These expire when you close your browser.
- Preference cookies: Store your settings such as dark mode preference (saved in your browser's localStorage).
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics (tracking ID: G-2XRR3EG34D) collects anonymised data about how users interact with our site to help us improve it.
- Advertising cookies: Google AdSense may use cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing history.
- localStorage: Our free tools (CV Builder, Invoice Maker, Savings Tracker, Done List) use your browser's localStorage to save your work if you are not logged in. This data stays on your device only.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the platform.
Mtaa Jobs provides free tools including the CV Builder, Invoice Maker, Smart-Gig Agreement Maker, Savings Tracker and Done List. The following applies to data generated using these tools:
- Logged-in users: Documents and data are saved to our database linked to your account. You can view, manage, and permanently delete them from your dashboard.
- Guest users: Data is saved in your browser's localStorage only. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers unless you generate an invoice or agreement, which is stored for verification purposes.
- Invoice verification: Saved invoices are stored in our database so they can be verified at verify-invoice.php. This helps clients confirm the authenticity of invoices they receive.
- Smart-Gig Agreements: Agreements you generate are stored with a unique document ID for verification and WhatsApp sharing purposes.
With your consent (given at registration by opting in), we may send you marketing emails about:
- New features and tools on Mtaa Jobs
- New job listings matching your skills and location
- Platform announcements and updates
- Tips for job seekers and job givers
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email we send, or by emailing us at info@mtaajobs.co.ke. Transactional emails (account creation, password reset, job interest notifications) are not affected by unsubscribing from marketing.
Mtaa Jobs is intended for users aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not register or use our services.
If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under 18 without verified parental consent, we will promptly delete that data. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information should contact us at info@mtaajobs.co.ke.
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites or embed third-party services. These include:
- WhatsApp: Sharing agreements, invoices, or job interest messages via WhatsApp redirects you to WhatsApp's platform, subject to their own privacy policy.
- Google Maps / Location: Location-based features rely on data you enter, not GPS tracking.
- External job-related resources linked from blog posts or tool pages.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing any personal information.
Your data is primarily stored on servers in Kenya (Truehost Kenya). However, some third-party services we use — including Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Anthropic (for AI tools) — may process data on servers located outside Kenya.
When data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, including relying on standard contractual clauses or the privacy policies of the respective service providers.
We use the following Google services on our platform:
- Google Analytics (G-2XRR3EG34D): Tracks page views, session duration, traffic sources, and user behaviour in aggregate. Data is anonymised and does not identify you personally. You can opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense (ca-pub-2724200479249929): Displays advertisements on our site. Google may use cookies and your browsing history to show personalised ads. You can manage ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.
Mtaa Jobs does not receive individually identifiable data from Google Analytics — only aggregated statistics. We use this data to understand how our platform is used and to improve it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or best practices. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Send a notification email to subscribed users if the changes materially affect how we use their data.
- Display a notice on our website for at least 14 days after major updates.
Your continued use of Mtaa Jobs after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
